Nigeria wrapped up their Group C campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 3-1 win over Uganda, ending the group stage with three wins from three matches.

Midfielder Raphael Onyedika was the star of the game, scoring twice, while striker Paul Onuachu added his first international goal in four years. The Super Eagles were in control for most of the match, even though they rested some key players after already securing qualification.

Uganda’s problems deepened when they were reduced to 10 men, making Nigeria’s task even easier. Despite the setback, the East Africans managed to score a late consolation goal through Rogers Mato, but it was not enough to change their fate.

Nigeria finished top of Group C with nine points, confirming their status as strong title contenders. Tunisia placed second in the group, while Tanzania also advanced to the round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams after drawing 1-1 with Tunisia in the other group match.

Uganda, however, ended the tournament at the group stage. Their campaign was marked by setbacks, including injuries, a red card, and the unusual situation of having to use three different goalkeepers in one match.

With a perfect group record, Nigeria now head into the knockout phase full of confidence, while Uganda exit the competition after a difficult outing in Morocco.
