Following Mohammed Kudus’ bright performance in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria defender Calvin Bassey referred to the midfielder as “a man on fire.”
The Black Stars’ hopes of making it to the Round of 16 were resurrected by Kudus’ two goals in Ghana’s 3-2 victory over South Korea, and Bassey, a Nigerian-born athlete, responded.
Jordan Ayew’s cross found Kudus, who headed in the goal in the 34th minute. Kudus then scored the game-winning goal with a deft one-time left-foot finish in the 68th minute.
In a training session, Bassey made a statement in response to his teammate’s brace and all-around effort that earned him the Man of the Match award.
Starboy…He’s on fire, he’s on fire. Good player. I am happy for him he deserves it” the Nigerian international said.
Bassey started for Nigeria in a 1-1 draw against Ghana that had the Black Stars secure its spot in the World Cup. Kudus started for Ghana in the game played in Abuja.
