Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Ghanaian national team, expressed profound disappointment after the Black Stars suffered a devastating 4-0 defeat to the United States in an international friendly.
The four-time African champions conceded all four goals within just 39 minutes at Geodis Park in Nashville on Wednesday morning.
Following an impressive five-game unbeaten streak with the national team, the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss now grapples with consecutive losses to Mexico and the US.
During the post-match press conference, Hughton offered a positive perspective, suggesting that poor performances like the one against the USA can serve as a catalyst for a future winning streak.
“I’ve also been involved in the game long enough to know that sometimes you go through what we regard as bad periods to come out better.
“Sometimes the bad performances like today can be something that can kickstart something else or something that makes my mind up about the system we are playing. I understand that disappointment. I can tell you, nobody is more disappointed than I am.”
