Atlético de Madrid and Italian Serie A side Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ademola Lookman, who has signed for our club until June 30, 2030.

A versatile and dynamic 28-year-old right-footed player, he can play as a second striker or as a winger on either flank – either on his weaker or natural foot – where he makes the most of his speed and dribbling ability.

Born on October 20, 1997 in Wandsworth (London, United Kingdom) although naturalized Nigerian, he trained in the youth categories of Waterloo FC and Charlton Athletic, with whose first team he debuted on November 3, 2015. Subsequently, he continued to increase his professional experience wearing the shirts of Everton, Leipzig, Fulham and Leicester City, before arriving in the summer of 2022 at Atalanta.

Lookman signs Miguel Ángel Gil

At Atalanta, he cemented his status as one of the world’s leading strikers and was a key player in the club’s first-ever continental title: the 2013/24 UEFA Europa League. In the final, Atalanta defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, with Lookman scoring all three goals and inflicting the German side’s only defeat of the season. As a Nerazzurri player, he made a total of 137 appearances, scoring 55 goals and providing 27 assists.

“An English international at youth levels, he won the Under-20 World Cup with the ‘Pross’ in 2017, although on March 25, 2022 he made his debut with the Nigerian national team, with which he has already accumulated 41 matches and 11 goals.”

“Our new player passed his medical examination at the Vithas – Invictum High-Performance Sports Medicine Center at the Arturo Soria University Hospital in Madrid, before heading to the club offices at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. There he was greeted by our CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, with whom he signed his contract with our club.” said the club.
