English League One side Plymouth Argyle have officially confirmed the signing of 25-year-old Brendan Sarpong Wiredu from Fleetwood Town in a deal for an undisclosed fee.
Wiredu, who captained Fleetwood during his time there, brings leadership, experience, and valuable versatility to the Pilgrims’ squad. Known primarily as a central midfielder, the talented player is equally comfortable operating as a centre-back or full-back — a trait that adds tactical flexibility to Argyle’s setup.
The former Charlton Athletic youth product had been a key figure at Fleetwood, earning praise for his work ethic, physical presence, and composure on the ball. His leadership qualities will be a welcome addition as Plymouth look to mount a strong challenge in the upcoming League One campaign.
Brendan Wiredu has been handed the number 4 shirt at his new club, a number traditionally associated with discipline and defensive responsibility — fitting for a player of his profile.
