European giants FC Barcelona have officially unveiled Ghanaian sensation David Oduro as their latest signing on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old full-back has signed a three-year contract with the Blaugrana, committing to the club until June 30, 2027.
Oduro will initially join Barça Atlètic, the club’s youth team, with hopes of eventually progressing to the first team. Barcelona’s official statement reads: “Barcelona have reached an agreement with Ghanaian side Accra Lions for the transfer of player David Oduro, who will join Barça Atlètic. Oduro has signed a three-year contract, until 30 June 2027.”
The young defender earned a trial opportunity with Barcelona in March this year and has been training with their youth teams since. His impressive performances at La Masia, Barcelona’s famed academy, convinced the club’s technical staff to secure his immediate transfer.
David Oduro’s journey to Barcelona is notable as he becomes the first player directly from Ghana to join the club. Starting in the academy, he aims to learn and grow, with the ultimate goal of breaking into the first team.
Oduro has been a standout in the Ghana Premier League since joining Accra Lions in 2021 from lower-tier side Desideros FC, making him a player to watch as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career.
