Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Sowah has successfully completed his loan transfer to the Belgian side Standard Liege.
At 23 years old, Sowah makes the switch to the Reds from Club Brugge, securing a season-long loan with the possibility of a permanent deal at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
Sowah’s European journey commenced in 2018 when he joined Leicester City, but he spent the majority of his time on loan at OH Leuven. Following an impressive two-year stint at Leuven, he subsequently signed with Brugge.
Fergal Harkin, the Director of Football at Standard Liege, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Kamal will strengthen our offensive sector and increase competition within the group. His experience in the Belgian championship, his technical and physical qualities, his speed and his percussion will be additional assets for our team,” said Fergal Harkin, the Director of Football at Standard Liege.
In the 2022-23 season, Sowah made 27 appearances for Brugge and scored four goals. He also contributed two goals in seven UEFA Champions League appearances.
