The 24-year-old joins Gillingham from Newport County and becomes the club’s first new signing of the January transfer window.

Antwi, a creative midfielder, began his career in the youth ranks at Fulham before signing for Blackpool in 2019. He signed pro terms a year later and made his professional debut in November 2020 in an EFL Trophy tie at home to Leeds United.

Loan spells at AFC Telford and Southport followed before Cameron agreed a one-year deal at Cardiff which was extended 12 months later until the summer of 2024.

On leaving Cardiff, Cameron signed for Newport and, in total made 71 appearances over an 18-month spell. He netted six goals in all competitions, one of those against the Gills last weekend at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Speaking to the club’s media team he said: “I am delighted, I’ve had a look around the stadium – I get a good vibe from everyone at the club and I can’t wait to get started.

“When I spoke to the manager I felt an ambition and there was a target for this club. That was the big drive for me. I could feel the energy as soon as I met him and Dobbo.”
