Asante Kotoko SC, the renowned Ghanaian football club, has undergone a significant change as the owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially dissolved the board.
The decision comes following the completion of the three-year mandate of the board, which was led by esteemed businessman Dr. Kwame Kyei.
In an official statement, it was confirmed that the management’s mandate also came to an end simultaneously with the board. The communication from Manhyia, the seat of the Asante Kingdom, was conveyed to the board when they presented their report on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
The Asante Kotoko Board consisted of prominent personalities, including Dr. Kwame Kyei as Chairman, Mr. Jude Arthur as Vice Chairman, and members such as Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi, Kwasi Osei Ofori, Alhaji Lamin, Kwamena Mensah, and Joseph Yaw Addo. Other members were Miss Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Baffour Kwame Kusi, Mr. Kofi Amoah Abban, Mr. Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey, and Mr. James Osei Brown.
As discussions about the future leadership of the club unfold, media reports suggest that Dr. Kwame Kyei has expressed interest in leading the club once again. The names of Mr. Kwasi Ofori and Ringworld Oil Company MD Kofi Amoa-Abban have also surfaced in connection with the club’s management.
