Al Ahly have officially extended the contract of South African head coach Pitso Mosimane for two further years, the club has announced.
Pitso Mosimane has been breaking records left and right since his arrival in Cairo in October 2020 to take over from the departed René Weiler.
Under his guidance, Al Ahly won back-to-back CAF Champions League titles, two CAF Super Cups, the Egypt Cup, and two Club World Cup bronze medals.
Overall he led Al Ahly in 83 games, winning 59, drawing 17, while losing seven, with the team scoring 182 goals while conceding 70.
However, with five months left on his contract at Al Ahly speculation had gathered around what Pitso would do next as rumours started emerging of negotiations falling through between both parties.
And finally, Al Ahly fans breathe a huge sigh of relief as the club have announced they have managed to reach an agreement with the South African coach for a new two-year deal.
A statement by Al Ahly came after the emphatic win over Pyramids that read: “Based on the great confidence of the club in their head coach Pitso Mosimane and a translation of the many achievements he has achieved during the past period, the club’s board announces the renewal of Mosimane’s contract for two extra years.”
The club added that Pitso Mosimane and his staff have already signed the new contracts ahead of the trip to South Africa which will see Al Ahly face Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.
Pitso Mosimane will now remain with Al Ahly until at least the summer of 2024 and will hope to add extra trophies to his name as he further proves himself as a future club legend.
