Dutch club, AZ Alkmaar has successfully secured the services of Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq from Swedish team BK Häcken.
The 23-year-old right-winger underwent a medical assessment in Alkmaar on Tuesday. For the former Ghanaian youth international, AZ Alkmaar will be paying an estimated fee of €4 million.
Throughout the 2023 season, Sadiq has been showcasing remarkable form with BK Häcken, making him one of Ghana’s standout performers in Europe during this campaign.
In a recent match against Aberdeen on Thursday, Sadiq reached a milestone by scoring his 20th goal of the season in 24 appearances across various competitions for the Swedish club. He netted a brace, playing an integral role in Hacken’s achievement of securing a spot in the Europa League group stage for the first time in the club’s history.
During his inaugural season, the young talent participated in 19 matches for the club, contributing seven goals and contributing significantly to them clinching the league title.
Ibrahim Sadiq marks the sixth signing of the summer for AZ Alkmaar. The club, led by Pascal Jansen, has already welcomed players like Ruben van Bommmel, Tiago Dantas, David Möller Wolfe, Denso Kasius, and Alexandre Penetra.
These signings are under scrutiny as AZ Alkmaar has witnessed the departure of prominent figures such as Tijjani Reijnders, Milos Kerkez, Jesper Karlsson, and Sam Beukema. The previous season saw the club finish in the fourth position in Eredivisie. The new season has commenced on a positive note, with two wins in two league games.
The acquisition of Ibrahim Sadiq further enhances AZ’s offensive capabilities with an additional high-quality attacking option.
