Asante Kotoko has announced the signing of highly-ratted Sudanese defender Esmat Abdulhamid Hassabalbagi Mohamed from Al Hilal.
The 21-year-old left-back joins the Porcupines after passing his mandatory medical checks in Kumasi on Saturday afternoon.
Abdulhamid, who has risen through the ranks at Al Hilal Omdurman, gained valuable experience at Al Falah SC during the 2022/23 season, featuring prominently in over 20 matches. He has also earned a call-up to Sudan’s senior national team.
The move comes with a recommendation from Sudan’s national coach and Kotoko’s technical director, Kwesi Appiah, who has high hopes for the young defender’s potential.
Abdulhamid’s signing is seen as a significant boost for Kotoko as they aim to rebuild their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
With Abdulhamid on board, Kotoko hopes to regain competitiveness in the league and make a stronger push for titles in the coming season.
