Opoku Nti, a former CEO and player of Asante Kotoko, has encouraged the team to put in more effort on the field in order to attract fans to the stadium.
The team, who are the defending champions, have struggled this season due to a lack of goals and injuries. They were recently defeated 1-0 by their fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In their upcoming match in the Ghana Premier League, the Porcupine Warriors will be playing against FC Samartex at Samreboi.
Nti, speaking on Peace FM, expressed his concern about the low performance of the players, stating that Kotoko supporters may be unsure of who to watch. He emphasized the need for at least one player to make a difference and attract supporters to the stadium.
He also compared the team’s situation to that of a parent whose child may not be performing well but still deserves support. Nti urged supporters to continue to support Kotoko, even in difficult times, and emphasized that the team needs their help the most when things are not going well. He called for everyone to work together to make the game more attractive and draw more supporters to the club.
“Players too their performance is very low because today you will see that a Kotoko supporters will say who am I going to watch. There must be at least one player in there who is making the difference that also attracts the supporters to come,” Nti said on Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com
“But all the same if your child is not good it is still your child the supporters too what I will say is that Kotoko is your club you don’t wait till it gets better before you support it. When things are not going well that is when the team needs your help. So one way or the other we all should think about all these things and lets work best so that our game will be attractive and let supporters come,”
