Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman will now work under former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, who has been appointed as Feyenoord’s new head coach.
Van Persie was named as Brian Priske’s replacement on Saturday, signing a contract that runs until 2027. His appointment comes after Feyenoord slipped to third in the Eredivisie standings, trailing leaders Ajax Amsterdam by 11 points.
Osman, currently on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the season, will be aiming for more playing time under the new manager. Although he featured regularly under Priske, he was often used as a substitute, including in Sunday’s match against Almere City.
The arrival of Van Persie is also expected to be a valuable learning opportunity for Osman, as he works under one of the finest strikers in Dutch football history. The former Netherlands international had two spells at Feyenoord, scoring 46 goals in 122 appearances.
During his playing career, Van Persie won the FA Cup with Arsenal and secured a Premier League title with Manchester United.
