Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has emphasized the importance of Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Madagascar, describing it as a “small final.”
Ghana will face Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium tonight in their sixth match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The game is set to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
Speaking to the Ghana FA media ahead of the crucial fixture, Addo stressed the need for complete focus and commitment from his players.
“We need everyone to be on their toes. We don’t need 98%, we don’t need 99%, we need 100%,” he said.
The Black Stars coach acknowledged the significance of the match in their qualification journey but admitted that it would be a difficult challenge.
“This [game against Madagascar] is like a small final, and if we win this game, then we are really moving towards qualification. But it’s going to be very tough,” he added.
Addo also recognized the recent form of their opponents, highlighting Madagascar’s strong performances.
“We observed the Madagascar team, and they have done really well, especially in their last game. So, they are in good form, and it’s going to be a tough game.”
Ghana head into this match full of confidence after a dominant victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium. That result put them at the top of Group I with 12 points, and they will be aiming to maintain their momentum as they take on the Malagasy side.
