Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has confirmed that his team is ready to take on Sudan in their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier without their captain, Thomas Partey.
Ghana will host Sudan in the first leg of the doubleheader at the Accra Sports Stadium today, with kickoff set for 16:00 GMT. Partey is missing from the squad due to a medical issue, and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus has been named captain for the match.
In a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Addo stressed the importance of focusing on the players available rather than dwelling on those who are absent.
“This is my job. We have different solutions for how we could play, and as a staff, we discussed it and I chose one that I’m very, very sure will work,” he stated. “We are not thinking too much about the players who aren’t here. It’s more about the players we have and how we can inspire them to perform.”
Ghana, currently third in Group F with just one point, will aim for their first victory in the qualifiers before heading to Libya for the second leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium.
