Kojo Addae-Mensah, Group CEO of Databank, has praised Otto Addo’s impact on the Black Stars players since returning to coach the team. He also commended the newfound resilience and fighting spirit of the Black Stars squad.
Speaking on Asaase Radio on Tuesday (11 June), Addae-Mensah highlighted the team’s recent performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as proof of their growing mental fortitude.
Addae-Mensah’s comments came after the Black Stars’ thrilling comeback victory over the Central African Republic. Trailing 2-1 at halftime, Ghana rallied to win 4-3 in a dramatic match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday (10 June).
This victory followed another impressive turnaround just four days earlier when the Black Stars overcame a 1-0 deficit at halftime to beat Mali 2-1 in Bamako on Thursday (6 June).
“I think Otto [Addo] is bringing some mentality monster into the team and that is very important,” Addae-Mensah said.
“It’s very key that we become mentality monsters so that we can overcome any adversity that we will be seeing as we go along through these qualifiers.”
“It’s a team he (Otto Addo) is building; he’s new, he needs time and at national team level, it will take a long time because you don’t have many days with your team,” he noted.
Addae-Mensah was a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) five-member committee tasked with finding a new head coach after the dismissal of Chris Hughton.
