Otto Addo has stepped down from his role as the head coach of the Black Stars following the team’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana exited the group stage of the competition after the 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in the final Group H game on Friday, December 2.
The assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund was already planning to quit after the World Cup following the extension of his contract with Ghana to December.
“I always said if we qualified for the World Cup I’d resign afterwards, even if we were world champions,” he after Ghana lost 2-0 to Uruguay on Friday.
“My family see our future in Germany.”
Speaking about the Black Stars’ loss, he added, “football is beautiful, sometimes it is ugly. It is ugly for us today. We have to learn and I’m very sure we will learn from this in the future.”
Ghana exit the tournament with just three points having lost to Portugal and Uruguay and won against South Korea.
