Otto Addo Names Black Stars Squad for Austria and Germany Friendlies
Head coach Otto Addo has officially announced the Ghana national football team squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Austria national football team and Germany national football team later this month.
The two friendly matches form part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the technical team looks to fine-tune the squad ahead of crucial international assignments. The matches will provide an opportunity for the Black Stars to test their strength against strong European opponents while assessing player combinations and tactical adjustments.
Coach Otto Addo maintained the core of players who featured prominently during the World Cup qualifying campaign but also introduced several fresh faces into the national team setup. Four players have received their maiden invitations to the senior national team, signalling the coach’s intention to expand the squad and offer opportunities to emerging talents.
The new call-ups include Derrick Luckassen, Patrick Pfeiffer, Marvin Senaya, and Daniel Agyei, all of whom are expected to strengthen the team as Ghana prepares for the upcoming challenges.
Ghana will first take on Austria in Vienna on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart to face Germany three days later on March 30. The fixtures are expected to attract significant attention as the Black Stars test themselves against two well-organised European sides.
Several experienced players have retained their places in the squad, including captain Jordan Ayew, midfielder Thomas Partey, striker Inaki Williams, winger Antoine Semenyo, and defender Alexander Djiku. Their inclusion is expected to provide leadership and stability for the team as new players integrate into the squad.
