Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is set to reveal his squad this week for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar.
For the first time this year, the four-time African champions will regroup to prepare for Matchday five and six of the qualifiers, following their disappointing failure to secure a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
After facing heavy criticism for their poor performances in the AFCON qualifiers, the Black Stars are eager to bounce back and shift the narrative as they aim to qualify for their fifth World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico next year.
To strengthen the squad, Otto Addo is expected to name a strong selection, which has already been submitted to the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for review.
However, Ghana will be without several key players due to injuries, including Alidu Seidu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Abdul Mumin, and Daniel Kofi Kyere.
Meanwhile, speculation is growing over the potential return of Andre Ayew, who has been absent from the national team since the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Jordan Ayew is expected to captain the team for these crucial fixtures.
Ghana, currently second in Group I, will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT. They will then travel to Morocco to take on Madagascar at the Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24.
