“Our football is in tatters and anybody who says otherwise is a liar”- Emmanuel Agyeman Badu

Agyeman Badu on the United  ShowBizz with MZGEE did not spare anyone as he made it clear that Ghana football is in a horrible state which needs to be rescued.

“Have you seen Tamale Park,” Badu asked as he talked about the embarrassing state of the famous Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale. The venue looked completely deteriorated when Asante Kotoko visited Karela in the FA Cup for the Round 16 fixture.

“We need to seek answers to some of these questions. The demonstrators didn’t go there to attack anyone. They are suggesting things that are very important for football and I support them,”.

The former FIFA U20 World Cup winner declared his support for the “Save Ghana Football” demonstration as he thinks the demonstration seeks to address the many problems facing Ghanaian football.

“I was discovered by a teacher through interschools. So what is wrong if someone says invest in inter-school football?”

“Most of us including Samuel Inkoom, Abeiku Quansah, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and many more are all finished products from grassroots football. So I think it is a great idea to suggest the investment into grassroots football.”

Emmanuel Agyeman Badu emphasized the need for Ghana to invest heavily in inter-school football competitions and Youth football as it is through it that he and many prominent Ghanaian footballers were discovered.

“After 15 years of winning the U-20 World Cup, where is our team?

“So if people are suggesting 15 points [referring to the petition of the #SaveGhanaFootball leaders] to make football better, what is wrong with that?”

Agyeman Badu, who played for Udinese and Black Stars thinks there is nothing wrong with people calling for changes in our football.

“Our football is in tatters and anybody who says otherwise is a liar. Our only source of joy now is the Black Queens. All other national teams have nothing to write home about currently,” added Badu.

The 33-year-old ex-Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko midfielder blasted those who see nothing wrong with Ghana football and labelled them liars.

Agyeman Badu praised Black Queens for the wonderful performance they have been putting up recently. He thinks it’s only the Black Queens that are carrying Ghana’s flag in football.

The ‘SaveGhanaFootball’ demonstration was organised on 14th February 2024 in Accra.
