Former Ghanaian international footballer Mohammed Polo has voiced his opinion on the coaching abilities of Chris Hughton, the current coach of the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars.
Polo believes that local Ghanaian coaches have the potential to achieve better results with the team than Hughton.
Polo, who has previous experience as a coach for Hearts of Oak, expressed his dissatisfaction with Hughton’s performance and called for his replacement with a local coach who possesses a deeper understanding of the game and can bring out the best in the players.
In an interview with Rainbow Sports, Polo highlighted the high quality of football played by local league coaches in Ghana. He believes that these coaches have demonstrated excellence in their games, developing and employing talented players.
According to Polo, the local coaches are superior to Hughton in terms of their ability to produce quality players and implement effective football strategies. He argues that it is crucial to remove Hughton from his position and appoint a local coach who truly understands the essence of excellent football.
“In the local league, we have better coaches who play quality football and are far superior to Chris,” Polo stated in an interview with Rainbow Sports.
“We observed the level of excellence they brought to their games. We witnessed the caliber of players they developed and employed in their games.
“These coaches are unquestionably superior to the current coach of the Black Stars. This coach did not produce quality players or football. We must fire him and replace him with a better coach who understands excellent football.”
