Ghana international Ibrahim Sulemana has voiced his frustration following the Black Stars’ goalless draw against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars, four-time AFCON champions, hosted Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane in the first leg of the doubleheader on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, the game ended in a goalless draw, leaving Ghana with only two points from their first three games in Group F.
Sulemana, who plays for Serie A side Atalanta, delivered an impressive performance in midfield before being substituted in the 80th minute by Michael Baidoo of Elfsborg. After the match, Sulemana took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment, saying, “Painful result. Still need your love and support.”
The Black Stars’ struggles in the qualifiers have sparked concern among fans, with the team having drawn against Niger and Sudan, and lost to Angola. Ghana will now need a much-improved performance in their upcoming fixture to keep their AFCON 2025 qualification hopes alive.
The team will travel to Tripoli, Libya, for the return leg against Sudan, where head coach Otto Addo and his players must secure a positive result to remain in contention for a spot at the 2025 AFCON tournament.
