Former Ghanaian defender John Paintsil has lauded the Super Eagles for maintaining their composure against Ghana in Kumasi in the 2022 world cup play off first leg.
Paintsil who played in two FIFA world cups with Ghana insists is not easy playing an away game in front of such a crowd as the Super Eagles did well in relations to the pressure.
“Nigeria have done well in terms of coping with the pressure and they really did play, their calmness was very good,” Paintsil said on Super Sports.
“When you play away especially against Ghana you are expected to play long balls but when the Eagles get the ball they always try to build from the back.
“They took the game to Ghana and I must say credit to the Nigerians.” He added.
Nigeria will host Ghana on Tuesday in the return leg in Abuja and the stadium is expected to be full.
