Panama head coach Thomas Christiansen has shared his thoughts after his team was drawn to face Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, admitting that the Black Stars will be a difficult opponent.
Christiansen, who knows Ghana coach Otto Addo from their playing days in Germany, expressed respect for both Addo and the Ghanaian team.
“I know Otto Addo from his playing days in Germany. It will be a difficult game against Ghana,” he said in reaction to the draw.
Ghana, who have been placed in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, are seen as one of the strong sides in the group. Christiansen’s comments reflect Panama’s realistic approach to the competition as they prepare to face a team known for its speed, physicality, and technical skill.

Earlier, Ghana head coach Otto Addo also spoke about the tough challenge ahead in the group. “There are a lot of things to think about before we play that England match. It is going to be very complex,” Addo said, highlighting the high level of preparation required for the tournament.
With both coaches showing mutual respect and acknowledging the difficulty of their matches, Group L is shaping up to be one of the most competitive groups in the 2026 World Cup. Fans are eagerly looking forward to thrilling encounters as Ghana, Panama, Croatia, and England all battle for a place in the knockout stage.
