The spotlight was on Thomas Partey of Arsenal, Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace and Kamaldeen Sulemana of Ligue 1 side Rennais at this Africa Cup of Nations but these players disappointed.
Much was expected from them but they were not there for the team when they were needed most. Partey popped up with an assist against Gabon but his overall performance was not encouraging.
Jordan was given another life line to lead the Ghana attack at this tournament – started every game but his goal contribution was zero.
And Kamaldeen Sulemana – who is one of the best wingers in the Ligue 1 this season – failed to shine in Cameroon as Ghana is bundled out of the competition without winning a single game – the first ever time this has happened.
