CAF President Patrice Motsepe has officially announced his candidacy for re-election in the CAF Presidential elections scheduled for March 2025, aiming for a second term to further his transformative agenda for African football.
Since taking office in March 2021, Motsepe, a prominent South African businessman, has driven significant reforms, focused on financial transparency, and bolstered CAF’s global standing. His administration has implemented initiatives targeting stronger governance, financial stability, and grassroots talent development across Africa.
CAF confirmed Motsepe’s bid, noting that it was encouraged by widespread calls from CAF Member Association Presidents, Zonal Union Presidents, and other stakeholders.
Throughout his first term, Motsepe led CAF through a period of financial challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing fiscal responsibility and institutional accountability.
His re-election platform emphasizes continued growth, technical development, and improved infrastructure for African football, with a vision of empowering African clubs and players to compete as top contenders internationally.
