Patrick Agyemang delivered an outstanding performance as Derby County cruised to a convincing 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in the English Championship.
The American-Ghanaian striker scored twice, finding the net in the 32nd and 62nd minutes, and played a key role in a confident display that stunned the home side on Monday night.
Agyemang set the tone early with his strength and movement, leading Derby’s attack with purpose. He opened the scoring with a composed left-footed finish inside the box after being set up by Bobby Clark. Throughout the first half, he remained a constant threat, drawing fouls and keeping the Sheffield Wednesday defence under pressure.
Derby extended their lead shortly after the break when Liam Thompson converted from close range following a set-piece situation. Agyemang then capped off a fine night with his second goal, this time finishing clinically with his right foot from the middle of the area to put the result beyond doubt.
Despite enjoying more possession, Sheffield Wednesday struggled to create clear chances. Derby, on the other hand, were sharp and efficient, recording more shots and posing the greater attacking danger.
Agyemang was withdrawn late in the game to warm applause, a fitting recognition for his match-winning display. Derby County now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Portsmouth on December 20.
