Ghanaian forward Patrick Twumasi was on target for Beitar Jerusalem, but his goal was not enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat against Hapoel Haifa in their latest league fixture.
Twumasi, who has been in fine form this season, netted his seventh goal of the campaign in the 54th minute, offering Beitar a glimmer of hope after they had fallen behind.
Hapoel Haifa dominated the early proceedings, with Diarra Thiemoko opening the scoring before Dor Hugi added a brace to put the hosts in control.
Twumasi pulled one back in the second half, and Omer Atzili converted a penalty just four minutes later to cut the deficit to one. However, despite Beitar’s late push, Hapoel Haifa managed to hold on for all three points.
The former Astana star has now scored seven goals in 22 appearances this season and remains a key player for Beitar as they aim for a strong finish in the league.
