Chesterfield FC manager Paul Cook has hinted on why Akwasi Asante was not in action during the 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood on Saturday.
The gaffer mentioned that Asante is having injury problems and he has been sidelined due to it
“Asante is not fit. He has had trouble all season. He is in for a week and then he is out. He just can’t get going so we have just given him a bit of time to get his body right. I am not too sure on the injury, I think it is an accumulation of stiff areas. We have got to be careful because he is 30. He has got to do everything he can off the pitch to get his body right because you see how hard our lads work and if you can’t put that work-rate in, if you can’t get to those numbers, then you can’t play for us. Hopefully Akwasi can get to that.” Cook indicated.
Asante who was Chesterfield best player last season has featured in just ten games this season scoring three goals.
