Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford remains confident that his side can mount a serious challenge for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite being written off by many earlier in the season.
The Kpando-based side reignited their title hopes with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Medeama SC in an outstanding Week 22 clash on Wednesday at the Kpando Stadium.
Speaking after the win, Hayford expressed belief in his team’s ability to compete at the highest level and silence their critics.
“People counted us out of the journey to the top because we slipped a little; with this win and Kotoko’s defeat, it means we have closed the gap,” he said. “What it means to me is that we are closing the gap at the top, so it means a lot to me.”
Heart of Lions currently sit 4th on the league table with 44 points and are firmly back in contention. They will aim to maintain their momentum when they host Accra Lions on Sunday, April 20.
