The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) which comprises 14 member states’ maiden edition of the ‘COSAFA Awards to honour star performers and excellence throughout the season was held at the Sandton Convention Center in South Africa.
South Africa dominated the awards by winning seven different categories.
Al Ahly’s Percy Tau was named the Best Male Player of the Year.
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena won the Best Coach of the Year. Thapelo Maseko and Ronwen Williams were named the Best Young Player and Goalkeeper of the Year.
Zambia’s Rachel Kundananji was named the Best Women’s Player of the Year.
Desiree Ellis won the Women’s Best Coach of the Year.
Fran Hilton-Smith, Janine Van Wyk and Mark Gleeson won the Lifetime Achievement Awards for their immense dedication and contribution toward football development in the Southern part of Africa.
