Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, has arrived at the Black Stars camp as preparations kick off for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Lamptey, considered one of the top performers in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, participated in his first training session with the Black Stars on Tuesday, January 2.
The midfielder is among the three players selected from the local league to represent Ghana at AFCON 2023.
Lamptey reunited with his former WAFA teammates, Gideon Mensah and Majeed Ashimeru.
Having showcased impressive performances in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Lamptey faces the challenge of proving his worth to the Black Stars’ technical team, led by head coach Chris Hughton.
The midfielder will have an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities when Ghana faces Namibia in a friendly match on Monday, January 8.
The Black Stars are set to undergo a second training session at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex later today.
