Asante Kotoko interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has downplayed mounting calls from some supporters demanding his dismissal following the club’s disappointing home draw against 10-man Vision FC.
The Porcupine Warriors were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, settling for a stalemate in a match many fans expected them to win comfortably. The outcome has heightened frustration among sections of the fanbase.
Owusu, who has overseen just three matches since stepping in for Karim Zito, insists he is focused on his responsibilities and not distracted by external pressure.
“They are free to call for it; that decision lies with management,” he said after the game. “I’m not worried. My job is to give my best, and whatever decision management makes, I will respect it.”
The former Ghana international acknowledged the result was below expectations but emphasized that the team is still adjusting under his leadership.
Kotoko’s inability to convert chances and show composure in the final third allowed Vision FC to leave Kumasi with a point, despite playing much of the match with ten men.
With scrutiny intensifying and supporters demanding improvement, club management has yet to make any official statement regarding Owusu’s future as attention turns to Kotoko’s upcoming fixture.
