Amos Frimpong, former captain of Asante Kotoko, believes that Prosper Narteh Ogum’s return to the club as head coach will be a success.
Ogum had previously led the team to win the Premier League title in the 2021/22 season before resigning ahead of the subsequent season.
Frimpong expressed confidence in Ogum’s capabilities, stating that the coach now possesses more experience, which will likely lead to even better results. He mentioned that Ogum will face new challenges as many players from his previous stint are no longer with the club.
“The second coming of Prosper Narteh Ogum will be a good thing for Kumasi Asante Kotoko because in his first coming, he did not have a lot of experience but he still managed to win the Premier League title.”
“Coming back again, I am pretty sure he has gathered a lot of experience. This time around he is going to work harder than the first time and also win a lot of trophies for the club.”
“A lot will be expected from him this time around, most of the players he worked with in his first stint are not there, so he’s going to work with different players this time around.”
“This will be a very good challenge for him, and I think the experience he has also gathered at the national side [Black Galaxies], will help him.”
“With all this, I think he is going to guide Asante Kotoko to more trophies.”
Ogum’s re-appointment comes after a year’s absence from the club. During his absence, Seydou Zerbo took charge but was later dismissed midway through the season. Abdul Gazale, the club’s youth coach, temporarily led the team to a fourth-place finish in the 2022/23 campaign.
Now, as Ogum returns to oversee recruitment and pre-season training, there are high hopes for an improved performance in the upcoming season, set to commence on September 15th.
