Ghana legend Michael Essien has called on Ghanaians to fully support Mohammed Kudus, describing the talented attacker as the nation’s standout star.
The former Chelsea FC midfielder highlighted Kudus’ impact on the global stage, particularly referencing his impressive performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he announced himself as one of Africa’s brightest talents.
“If I start talking about him, we won’t finish!” Essien told FIFA.com. “He has showcased himself to the football world. He’s one of the biggest talents, and for Ghana, he’s our star. We have to protect him and give him all the love and confidence he needs.”
Kudus, now plying his trade with Tottenham Hotspur, made a strong start to life in North London, delivering eye-catching performances that quickly drew attention across Europe.
However, his momentum was halted after suffering a serious thigh/hamstring injury during a clash against Sunderland AFC on January 4, 2026. The injury sidelined the 25-year-old for several weeks and raised concerns over his fitness and form.“Protect and Support Him” – Essien Hails Kudus as Ghana’s Biggest Talent
