PSG insist: new meeting with Zidane in Qatar

According to information revealed by 'Mundo Deportivo', this Tuesday there will be a new meeting between PSG and Zinedine Zidane. The Parisian club is still trying to convince the former Real Madrid man to take over the job.

PSG are looking for a coach. Mauricio Pochettino’s departure is not yet official, but his sacking is a given. The team failed in their umpteenth attempt to win the Champions League and, despite winning Ligue 1, that defeat to Real Madrid will probably end up causing the Argentine to lose his job.

For days now, the search for coaches has been going on at the Parc des Princes. But Zinedine Zidane’s name remains above the rest. The Frenchman is a dream for a club that is closer than ever to making it a reality.

According to ‘Mundo Deportivo’, a meeting between PSG and the coach will take place this Tuesday. It will take place in Qatar, where the club’s owner Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani resides, and will mark the second meeting between the two parties.

The aforementioned source has already revealed a first contact. It was in Paris, during the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Nasser Al-Khelaifi had a meeting with Zidane, from which the only conclusion was that there would be a second part of it.

PSG would make Zidane the highest paid coach in the world. They are offering him an annual salary of 25 million euros, one million euros more than what Cholo Simeone earns at Atletico Madrid and two more than Pep Guardiola earns at Manchester City.

But the economic issue does not seem to be a priority for the former ‘Merengue’ coach. The strongest condition that the Frenchman would have set would be in relation to the French national team. In the event that Didier Deschamps leaves the national team after the World Cup, Zidane plans to replace him. And PSG would have accepted this point. As he lives in Paris, they believe he could combine the two roles without any problems.
