Chesterfield FC have completed the signing of promising midfielder Rafiq Lamptey on a season-long loan deal from Millwall ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The 19-year-old, who is the younger brother of Ghana international Tariq Lamptey, joins the National League side after an impressive season with Millwall, where he continued his development within the club’s academy and senior setup.
Lamptey is a versatile midfielder capable of operating in central and attacking midfield roles. Known for his energy, technical ability, ball progression and creativity, he has earned recognition as one of Millwall’s emerging young talents.
During the 2025/26 season, the youngster impressed with his performances for Millwall’s youth and development teams, gaining valuable experience and attracting interest from clubs looking to give him more first-team opportunities.
The move to Chesterfield will provide Lamptey with the chance to play regular competitive football and accelerate his development at senior level.
Born in England to Ghanaian parents, Rafiq remains eligible to represent Ghana internationally and will now look to make a strong impact at Chesterfield as he continues his journey in professional football.
Chesterfield will hope the young midfielder’s technical qualities, work rate and attacking instincts can strengthen their squad as they push for success in the new season.
