Talented Ghanaian midfielder Rafiq Lamptey made his senior debut for Millwall FC during the FA Cup clash against Premier League side Burnley.
The 19-year-old, younger brother of Black Stars right-back Tariq Lamptey, earned his first-team appearance after an impressive run with the Millwall U21 side.
Lamptey came off the bench in the 66th minute, replacing Thierno Ballo, and quickly made an impact by providing his first senior assist in a 5-1 defeat to the Clarets.
Burnley dominated the encounter from early on, with Ashley Barnes opening the scoring in the 11th minute. Luom Tchaouna and Jaidon Anthony added goals within ten minutes, giving the Premier League side a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.
After the break, Barnes netted his second before Jaydon Banel extended the lead further, putting the game out of reach for the Championship side.
Lamptey, however, showcased his talent late in the match by delivering a precise assist to Josh Coburn, allowing Millwall to pull one goal back.
The English-born Ghanaian midfielder has been a standout performer for Millwall’s U21s, and his FA Cup debut suggests he is ready to challenge for more first-team opportunities in the coming months.
