Abdul Mumin and Rayo Vallecano head coach Íñigo Pérez remain focused on a careful recovery plan as the Ghanaian defender continues his rehabilitation from a serious ACL injury.
The Rayo Vallecano manager has expressed measured optimism about Mumin’s progress, making it clear that the club will not rush the centre-back back into action. He indicated that although the defender is making good strides, full fitness remains the top priority.
The coach explained that Mumin is an important player for the team, stressing that returning fully fit is more important than returning quickly. He noted that the medical team is taking a cautious approach to ensure the defender comes back stronger and without setbacks.
Before the injury ruled him out earlier in 2025, the 26-year-old had been a key figure in Rayo Vallecano’s defence during the 2024/2025 season. He featured in 24 matches, scored two goals and added one assist, earning praise for his consistent and high-level performances.
Despite his current setback, the club is already planning ahead. With Mumin’s contract set to expire in June 2026, Rayo Vallecano have reportedly begun discussions with his representatives over a new three-year deal that would keep him at the club until 2029.
No definite date has been set for his return to full training or competitive matches, but the club remains confident about his long-term role as they balance patience with preparation for the future.
