Nations FC captain Razak Simpson has expressed his delight after leading his side to a memorable 2-1 comeback victory over Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama SC on Friday.

The commanding centre-back played the full 90 minutes in the Matchday 21 encounter and proved decisive on both ends of the pitch. After Medeama struck first in the ninth minute, Simpson stepped up with a remarkable brace to turn the game on its head and secure all three points for the home side.

Reacting after the match, the Nations FC skipper admitted the result was particularly satisfying given the team’s recent struggles in the league.

“I’m really happy about the win. I’m overwhelmed,” Simpson said. “This season hasn’t been the same as last season, so I thank God for this victory.”

Simpson also revealed how he rallied his teammates after conceding early. “When we went a goal down, I told the players to stay calm because I believed the game would swing in our favour. We came into this match fully motivated, and I knew we were going to win,” he added.

The impressive victory over the league leaders has lifted Nations FC into eighth place on the Ghana Premier League table, boosting confidence ahead of their next assignment.

Nations FC will now turn their attention to Matchday 22, where they are set to face Hohoe United as they look to build on their momentum.
