Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive season under Xabi Alonso has not only secured them a strong position in the Bundesliga but also earned them a spot in the DFB Pokal finals and potentially the UEFA Europa League semifinals.
As Leverkusen shines on the pitch, their standout players are attracting attention from top European clubs, with Real Madrid expressing interest in right-back Jeremie Frimpong, alongside Florian Wirtz.
However, journalist Christian Falk reports via Caught Offside that Real Madrid will have to contend with competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich in their pursuit of Frimpong.
Alonso and sporting director Rolfes are reportedly keen on securing Frimpong’s future at Leverkusen, but his contract until 2028 includes an exit clause, allowing him to leave for €40 million.
Falk emphasizes the need for a swift decision, stating, “The clause would have to be activated before the start of the European Championship in June.”
Discussions are already underway with Bayern Munich and Manchester United, indicating a competitive race for Frimpong’s signature.
Despite his impressive attacking stats, doubts linger at Real Madrid regarding Frimpong’s defensive abilities. Nonetheless, his release clause deadline adds urgency to any potential deal for the Dutchman.
