Real Madrid keen to keep Carlo Ancelotti beyond this summer

Real Madrid are more than happy with Carlo Ancelotti as their manager and have no plans to part ways with the Italian this summer, 90min reports.

Ancelotti was re-appointed by Real in the summer following Zinedine Zidane’s departure and they are firmly on course to re-capture the Spanish title, having lost out to neighbours Atletico last term. Los Blancos currently sit six points clear of Sevilla in second, with Real Betis 14 adrift in third.

Should Real go on to seal the title, Ancelotti would complete his collection of trophies for Real, having won everything but during his first spell in charge between 2013 and 2015.

Ancelotti has two years remaining on his current contract and sources have confirmed to 90min that he is more than happy with life in Madrid and is not considering a move away, while Real have no interest in letting him go either.

Reports have suggested that Manchester United are looking at Ancelotti as a short-term option to replace Ralf Rangnick at the end of this season, with Sir Alex Ferguson claimed to have recommended the Italian, but sources close to Real have played down suggestions that they are ready to move on from their manager.

Another target for United, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, has seen his name linked with the Real job as well, but it would take an unlikely series of events for Ancelotti to leave and create a vacancy in the Spanish capital.

Real have been impressed with Ancelotti’s ability to maximise the squad following a tumultuous summer transfer window which saw both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane leave the club to PSG and United respectively.

La Liga success is in sight and Real are also still in the Champions League, although they will have to overturn a 1-0 deficit against PSG, who secured the victory courtesy of a strike from long-term Real target Kylian Mbappe.
