Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has reportedly been placed on the transfer list by French Ligue 1 side Rennes as the club looks to resolve his future before the close of the transfer window.
According to transfer journalist Santi Aouna, Alidu Seidu, Djaoui Cissé and Breel Embolo have all been told to find new clubs as Rennes reshape their squad.
The development puts Seidu’s future in France under fresh uncertainty, despite the defender remaining an important part of the squad last season.
The 26-year-old made 24 appearances for Rennes across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, featuring 21 times in Ligue 1 and three times in the Coupe de France. He contributed one assist in the league.
Seidu joined Rennes in January 2024 after establishing himself in French football with Clermont Foot. He has since made 47 appearances for the club, starting 30 of those matches.
The Ghana international was also selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad and featured in Ghana’s Round of 32 defeat to Colombia, playing 77 minutes.
His versatility has been one of his key strengths, with Seidu capable of operating across the defensive line.
However, with Rennes now reportedly encouraging him to secure a move, the defender could be heading for a new chapter just over two years after joining the French club.
