Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has advised Ghanaians to respect Nico Williams’ decision to play for Spain although he would have liked to have him in the Black Stars setup.
Nico’s brother Inaki switched his allegiance to Ghana and many expected Nico to follow suit. But the 20-year-old received a callup from Spain which he accepted.
Addo stated that it would have been great to have the brothers play together in Ghana.
“That would have been great but his brother decided to play for Spain which is fair and respected as well. We would have loved to see him Ghana but I can understand this. I was also born in Germany and grew up in Germany so you also have two homes in your heart so this is always a difficult decision so we respect that; hopefully it would great if we could play against Spain,”
Ghana are set to face Nicaragua on Tuesday with the hope of grabbing a win after losing 3-0 to Brazil on Friday.
