Former Accra Hearts of Oak number one Goal keeper, Richard Attah has come under the microscope and a barrage of attacks from football fans particularly after an image of him popped up consoling his counterpart, Richard Ayi.
Richard Attah instantly became a hit for Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2020/2021 season after he signed from Elmina Sharks. The goal Keeper lived up to expectation in the 2020/2021 season after he helped the Phobians lift the double including spectacular penalty saves against Ash gold in the finals of the MTN FA Cup.
The performance of the shot stopper went unnoticed after he earned his first call-up to the Black Stars for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers double-header against Sudan in March 2020. Richard Attah earned his second call-up after coach CK Akonnor decided to drop Razak Abalora for the Phobian number one after a very successful season with the capital giants.
Fasts forward in the 2022/2023 season, the goal keeper’s journey to oblivion started with a string of disappointing performance in the post with fans calling for his spot to be replaced. Richard Attah’s trouble compounded after a stinking leaked tape from his wife which sought to implicate management of the club in the sacking of Samuel Boadu.
Richard Attah’s last outing for the Phobians was in September when Accra Hearts of Oak lost to Boafoakwa Tano at the Coronation Park.
If the current shape and size of the huge goalkeeper is anything to write home about, Richard Attah will need a lot of time to work back to fitness to be at his best.
