Al-Ahli winger Riyad Mahrez had a very quiet night in Bouake against Angola in the 1-1 draw between the 2019 champions and less fancied Angola.
Baghdad Bounedjah opened the scoring for the Fennex Foxes in the 18th minute after Youcef Belaili had assisted him.
Mabululu levelled equalised through a spot kick for Angola in the 68th and went on to snatch a crucial point for the underdogs.
The draw was very surprising looking at how excellent Algeria had looked before the tournament. After the disappointing results, when speaking to the press,
“I am convinced, I am still very confident for the future because I know that we have a good team, and we have done good things. We will be ready against Burkina InshAllah, added Mahrez.
Algeria will play on January 20th against Burkina Faso in their second game of the group in Bouake.
