Mamelodi Sundowns made history this afternoon by beating Wydad Club Athletic of Morocco by 2-0.

The Brazilians needed to turn the first leg 2-1 defeat to lift the virgin trophy and they deservedly won through Peter Shalilule and Aubrey Modiba’s goals.

In a video recorded by the winning coach, the 36-year-old South African, Rulani Mokwena, he congratulated his players and assured the Masandawana family of more of this moment.

“I’ve got no words, thank you Masandawana. Without your love and support it wouldn’t have been possible”, said Rulani Mokwena, coach of Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Special congratulations to these magnificent players. You’ve made history. You’re continental champions and this is only the beginning. Congratulations Masandawana”, Mokwena said.

Mamelodi Sowndowns are the first team on the African continent to win CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup and African Football League.
