German third-tier side 1. FC Saarbrucken have announced the signing of Ghanaian attacker Kelsey Owusu from Rot-Weiss Essen ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The ambitious German club confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, making Owusu their first signing of the summer transfer window as preparations intensify for the upcoming campaign.
The young forward joins Saarbrucken after gaining valuable experience in German football with Rot-Weiss Essen, where he continued his development as one of the promising young attacking talents in the lower divisions.
Club officials expressed excitement over securing the services of the versatile attacker, highlighting his speed, attacking qualities and potential for further growth.
Sporting Director Markus Thiele praised the signing and believes Owusu perfectly fits the team’s tactical approach.
“We are delighted that we were able to sign Kelsey. He brings speed to our game, finds one-on-one solutions in attack, and fits very well into our coach’s playing philosophy. He also brings a fresh, positive attitude, which is also good for us,” Thiele said.
Owusu also expressed his excitement after sealing the move to Saarbrucken.
“I am very much looking forward to my new role at FCS. The talks with the management were very positive from the start and I immediately had the feeling that this step was exactly the right one for me,” he said.
