South Africa Football Association(Safa), has awarded a huge sum of R2.4 million to the Banyana Banyana for their impressive show at the just ended 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.
The team picked up one of the three available World Cup tickets and won the silver medal, losing to Champions Nigeria on penalties.
A promised incentive package totalling a little over R2.4million cheque was handed over to Captain Janine Van Wyk by president Danny Jordan on their return to South Africa.
This comes in the wake of SAFA rejecting a R100,000 pledge from an insurance company to the Banyana Banyana in South africa.
The Banyana Banyana won all games except losing on a 4-3 penalty shoot out to Nigeria, drawing blank in a hectic 120 minutes of play.
